Bottom-Top Sanding of Veneer for molded Plywood

User example: This company produces chair seat shells from molded plywood. Before being glued together under high pressure, the veneer sheets need sanding first. Besides having a fine sanded top surface it is also important to minimise thickness tolerances of each layer so they don’t add up when stacking them. For this, the bottom side of the veneer is sanded flat in order to create an even basis for the thickness calibration process that follows. The end product are sheets with thickness tolerances of less than +/- 0.1 mm (0.004 inch) which is quite remarkable when considering the unwieldy nature of the heavily warped material. The model in use is a KUNDIG Technic-Botop Bottom-Top Wide Belt Sander
